Temperature dynamics in different body regions of decomposing vertebrate remains

چکیده

• Time-series analyses were used to characterize internal temperature dynamics from different regions of decomposing remains. The chest region experienced the highest average temperatures, and mouth maximum temperatures. Differences in temperatures suggest location blowfly larvae be noted improve accuracy development estimates. decomposition vertebrates is controlled largely by external temperature, yet can also play an important role but are generally poorly documented. In this study, we compared continuous hourly recordings mouth, under head, right abdomen, rectum one refrigerated human fresh pig cadaver during 29 days decomposition. Each differed its starting thus providing two contrasting case studies for examining among body regions. We time-series analysis methods common hydrology reveal key differences dynamics. Within both cadavers, temperature. Temperatures exceeded 30 °C inside between 40% (rectum) 75% (chest) duration only 20% 35% time human. Our study provides evidence thermal trajectories occurring regions, some similarities cadavers despite their conditions. These results our understanding why occurs at rates within same cadaver, that collections should estimates post-mortem interval.

Odor analysis of decomposing buried human remains.

This study, conducted at the University of Tennessee's Anthropological Research Facility (ARF), lists and ranks the primary chemical constituents which define the odor of decomposition of human remains as detected at the soil surface of shallow burial sites. Triple sorbent traps were used to collect air samples in the field and revealed eight major classes of chemicals which now contain 478 spe...

Napping behavior during "spontaneous internal desynchronization": sleep remains in synchrony with body temperature.

Patterns of sleep and wakefulness exhibited in an environment without time cues are generally considered to be monophasic, with a distinct relationship between sleep episodes and the minimum of body core temperature. In some cases this relationship between major sleep episodes and temperature becomes replaced by an apparently varying phase relationship between the two variables called "spontane...

the present study sought to investigate the role of dynamic assessment (da) in improvement of iranian efl writing performance at different language proficiency levels. to this end, after conducting the quick placement test, 60 iranian efl learners were assigned to two groups with different language proficiency levels. in both groups each participant wrote two compositions, one before and one af...

Insect-mediated nitrogen dynamics in decomposing wood

Abstract. 1. Wood decomposition is characterised by complex and poorly understood nitrogen (N) dynamics with unclear implications for forest nutrient cycling and productivity. Wood-dwelling microbes have developed unique strategies for coping with the N limitations imposed by their substrate, including the translocation of N into wood by cord-forming fungi and the fixation of atmospheric nitrog...
